Internship Description

The Trevor Noah Foundation (TNF) seeks to empower disadvantaged African communities by enhancing education access and opportunities for youth aged 5-35. As a non-profit organization, TNF focuses on equipping orphans and vulnerable youth with education, life skills, and social capital necessary for post-high school opportunities.

Job Purpose: The Finance and Operations Intern, reporting to the Finance and Operations Coordinator, will collaborate across departments to support strategic goals. The role encompasses finance, programmatic, operational, and administrative responsibilities, ensuring efficient operations and timely support.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with departments to fulfil procurement needs efficiently.
  • Maintained accurate procurement records, processed purchase orders, and handled supplier communications.
  • Arrange travel and event logistics in coordination with various departments.
  • Process data entry and payments accurately.
  • Compile and organize finance documents, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
  • Assist in documenting financial records and tracking program expenditures.
  • Administer donations, and communicate with relevant donors.
  • Assist in HR processes such as onboarding, offboarding, and drafting HR-related communications.
  • Support in maintaining employee files and records.
  • Respond to employee inquiries and concerns.
  • Provide administrative support in collaboration with the Communications and Programmes Intern.
  • Ensure compliance with finance and operational guidelines and policies.

Requirements:

  • Certificate, Diploma or Degree in:
    • Finance,
    • Accounting,
    • Business,
    • or a related field.
  • Advantageous: A minimum of six months of related experience is advantageous.
  • Clear credit history and no criminal convictions.
  • Provide four contactable references.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Analytical, problem-solving, communication, interpersonal, and attention to detail.
  • Fluency in English and at least one African language.
  • Especially in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Demonstrated passion for education, youth, or community development sectors.
