Job Description

The main purpose of the position
Currently, we are looking for an Intern in Cape Town, South Africa to be part of our global team working together towards our vision – Improving our future. As an Intern in Floating Solar PV (Hydropower), the main responsibility is to identify and screen potential locations for floating solar PV (FPV) development. This includes screening countries for water bodies and gathering data to facilitate assessment and ranking of potential opportunities.

Main responsibilities:

• Screen countries of interest and identify potential FPV sites
• Gather site specific data on each of these water bodies for evaluation
• Evaluate, based on pre-defined criteria, the potential locations
• Rank locations for further development

Qualifications and competencies:

• Education: Under higher education, with 1-2 years left
• Degree in completion: Electrical Engineering /Mechanical Engineering / Civil Engineering
• Experience: within renewable energy (particularly PV/FPV) is a benefit
• Shows a technical understanding and interest in renewable energy
• Has knowledge of Google Earth or similar GIS mapping programs. This is an advantage, but not a requirement
• Has knowledge of PowerBI. This is an advantage, but not a requirement
• Skilled in Microsoft office
• Able to use Powerpoint and write reports
• Easy going and can work independently
• Quick learner

Critical Interfaces:

• Business Development: Capture information already gathered for a specific country
• Power Production: Capture any in country knowledge or information to facilitate assessments
• Solutions: Understand constructability requirements and information gathered on FPV
