Job Description
ISASA: Graduate Teacher Internships Opportunities exist for young teachers-in-training to gain valuable experience on our Academic Intern Programme in 2021 / 2022. The successful applicant should be committed to a career in education and should be studying towards a Bachelor of Education degree or another degree, with the aim of obtaining a PGCE.
Interns are involved in all aspects of school life, including:
- activities within the selected subject departments;
- assisting/ teaching in the classroom;
- assisting with Electives and the Clubs and Cultural programme;
- performing boarding house, Knowledge Centre and San duties;
- performing various ad hoc duties as required.

2022 Apprentice Teachers (Ruimsig)
- You are pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and entering your third or fourth year of study OR a Bachelor’s Degree + Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE)
- You will not be a qualified teacher at the start of 2022
- You are specialising in Foundation and/ or Intermediate phase NOT Senior phase.
Location: Ruimsig
2022 Apprentice Teachers (Ormonde)
- You are pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and entering your third or fourth year of study OR a Bachelor’s Degree + Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE)
- You will not be a qualified teacher at the start of 2022
- You are specialising in Foundation and/ or Intermediate phase NOT Senior phase.
Location: Ormonde
Foundation Phase – Student Intern – 2022 (Kat River Valley Preparatory School)
- Studying towards B.Ed Degree, Foundation Phase
- Computer literate
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Excellent command of the English language
Location: Eastern Cape
Oprah Winfrey Leadership Interns
- Grade 12 / Matric certificate.
- Diploma / Degree and be studying towards a Post Graduate Certificate in Education through correspondence in 2022
- Or should be in their 3rd or 4th year of study towards a Diploma/Degree in education with the intention to pursue a postgraduate degree upon attainment of the undergraduate qualification.
Location: Meyerton, Gauteng, South Africa
Learner Teacher Internship Programme
- Enrolled as a Bachelor of Education student or another appropriate qualification with an aim to teach (with an accredited distance learning institution)
- Have a valid driver’s licence
Location: KZN, South Africa
Computer Science Graduate Apprentice
- A BSc in Computer Science or similar degree + Studying towards Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) is ideal.
- We are also open to candidates who have a Bachelors of Education degree but who have strong experience in a Computer Science field
- SACE registered
Location: Johannesburg
Art & Design Graduate Apprentice
- A National Diploma / Bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts, Graphic Design or a similar degree + Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) is ideal.
- We are also open to candidates who have a Bachelors of Education degree but who have strong experience in a similar Art / Art & Design role
- SACE registered
